Dear CVTA Players,
I am incredibly excited and honored to introduce myself as your new Coosa Valley Tennis Association Local League Coordinator!
For those who may not know me, my name is Sarah Cargle, and tennis has been a significant part of my life for many years. Through USTA leagues, tournaments, and the friendships I’ve made along the way, I’ve experienced firsthand just how special our tennis community truly is. I’ve had the opportunity to play with and against some wonderful people, celebrate victories, survive a few heartbreaking losses, and create friendships that extend well beyond the tennis courts.
As I step into this new role, I want to share a few of my goals and what I hope we can accomplish together.
First and foremost, I want to continue growing tennis in our community. Whether that means encouraging new players to pick up a racket, helping existing players find opportunities to compete, or finding creative ways to increase league participation, I want CVTA to be a place where everyone feels welcome and excited to play.
I also want to focus on communication, transparency, and creating a positive league experience. Tennis is competitive by nature, and I certainly understand that we all love to win! But at the end of the day, this is a sport we choose to play because we enjoy it. I want to encourage an environment built on sportsmanship, mutual respect, and a genuine love for the game. My hope is that every player, regardless of their level or experience, feels heard, valued, and included. By doing this, I feel that we can accomplish another important goal of mine which is to strengthen the relationships within our tennis community. I want to listen to your ideas, hear your concerns, celebrate your successes, and work alongside our captains, players, and CVTA leadership to continue making our leagues something we can all be proud of. I know I won’t have every answer, especially in the beginning, but I promise to be approachable, willing to listen, and committed to doing my best.
I also want to take a moment to recognize Eddie and the tremendous amount of time, dedication, and hard work he has poured into our leagues and CVTA over the years. His contributions have made a lasting impact, and I am sincerely grateful for everything he has done for our tennis community.
I want to make one thing very clear: I am not stepping into this role expecting to fill Eddie’s shoes. For starters, I mostly wear heels anyway , and I’m fairly certain those aren’t USTA-approved court shoes! All jokes aside, I recognize that Eddie has built relationships, earned trust, and dedicated countless hours to this organization. That is something I deeply respect. I don’t expect to walk into this role and immediately have the knowledge or relationships that come from years of experience. Those things take time, and I understand that. My hope is that, with time, I can earn your trust, your support, and your confidence. I know change can sometimes be difficult, especially when someone has served a community for so long. I am not here to erase the past or reinvent everything that is already working. I am here to build upon the foundation that has been established, bring fresh ideas and energy to the role, and continue moving our tennis community forward.
I truly believe that the success of CVTA isn’t determined by any one person. It’s determined by the players who show up, the captains who organize teams, the volunteers who give their time, and the friendships and shared love of tennis that keep us coming back season after season.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve this community in a new capacity. I am genuinely excited about what lies ahead, and I look forward to getting to know more of you, hearing your ideas, and seeing what we can accomplish together.
And if you see me around the courts, please come say hello…I promise I’m much less intimidating than a third-set match tiebreak. See you on the courts!
